Gimo Games wants to get a Kickstarter page up and running. If you haven’t heard about Kickstarter, you should check it out. Anybody who is working on a project of any kind can create a Kickstarter page. Whether the project is constructing a statue, clearing a city park of garbage, or designing a video game, Kickstarter helps people get the word out. If you haven’t heard of it before, you’re probably wondering what, exactly, is so great about Kickstarter. It gives the everyday Joe and Jane an opportunity to donate to a worthy cause. Donors, called Backers, often receive rewards for donating to the project. It’s a great way to share with the world what we’ve been working on and Kickstarter could drastically reduce our production time. Please keep an eye out for us on Kickstarter. We have a production video in the works and I am working on a draft of the Kickstarter page text. It’s an exciting new direction for us and we’re striving to make it a success. Thank you for your support. We appreciate every bit we get from all of you.

Time is the most fickle dimension that I am aware of. While everyone at Gimo Games had the intention of creating something playable to submit to the app contest, the reality of game design and development prevented us from making the deadline. Actually, most of us simply don’t have much time to spare; however, we’re striving to complete Monster Guru as quickly as possible. Even though we didn’t make it into the app competition, there is good news. Chris Kesler and his wife had a baby over the weekend! Congratulations and best of luck to budding family. Chris has worked so hard to get his share of the work done (as we all have) and deserves special recognition for his efforts. Of course, we can’t leave out his charming wife, Janice. Everyone at Gimo thanks her for all the patience she has for Chris’s hard work and the support she lends us at Gimo. Some more good news is that we made a lot of progress on Monster Guru. We’re coming along in development of the game and it’s really shaping up. Everyone at Gimo is working under tight time constraints, adding to the project in spare time. It’s like we’re following a trail of breadcrumbs and collecting them along the way. Except that every member of the Gimo team is following a different trail, and all the trails lead to the same place: a completed Monster Guru. Check back for more updates on Monster Guru and Gimo in general. I promise that updates will be more consistent and occur more often in the future.

Already, it’s the 13th of October. That leaves us with only a bit of time to get the Chapter 1 release finished up. This weekend will be full of writing, brainstorming and a creative maelstrom which will eventually coalesce into a coherent product. Well, at least, that’s how the creative process sometimes works. There are so many aspects to designing and creating a game, it can be difficult to keep track of it all. Layers and layers of story, coding, and art all have to coordinate to create a working whole. Managing such a beast of a project can be difficult at the best of times. What makes us brave the difficulties to test waters we’ve never explored before? Excitement, joy, and the chance to prove we’re up to the challenge. Creating a game is a wonderful process. Yes, it involves hours and hours of planning and work. Yes, it can be frustrating and mind-numbingly difficult at times. Yes, it is extremely rewarding. This weekend marks the beginning of crunch time, and we are eager to take up the challenge. Chapter 1 will be ready for Brigham Young University’s app competition. It will be ready and waiting.
